Training & Education

The Special Effects Training Company is offering an intensive one-day course specifically tailored for Health & Safety Inspectors. The course offers an exclusive insight into Special Effects with a view to raising awareness to achieve higher standards within the industry.

The day includes..


– Introduction to Special Effects and Pyrotechnics

– Jargon and Myth-Busting

– Safe Working Practices of:

– Transportation

– Storage

– Maintenance

– Prep for Shows


Concluding the classroom session is the opportunity for an open Q&A session. The classroom session leads to a hands-on exploration of effects and the setup processes involved.

Participants will be educated in safe practice with the following:

☑ CO2 Effects
☑ Sensory Effects
☑ Pyrotechnics
☑ Performer/Personal Effects
☑ Flame Effects


…as well as going through the A to Z of prep and maintenance.

After lunch, we will head outside for training and demos of large stage pyrotechnics, close-proximity pyrotechnics, G-Flames, and Liquid Flame Systems, including our 100ft FL Spitfire flame units.

The day starts at 9:30AM at Quantum Special Effects Ltd, Melksham, and finishes at 4:00PM.


Note that British weather is wild and unpredictable, and the second half of the day is based outside so please bring appropriate footwear and clothing.


Upon completion of the course to a satisfactory level, participants will be presented with a certificate and a qualification card. The bearer of these is recognised as having an understanding of safe working practices pertaining to special effects.
