The Maccabees performed their first ever festival headline act at Latitude Festival last weekend. Closing the opening night on Friday the band wanted a paired back set that would remain authentic to their indie roots. Resisting the draw of bigger effects the boys opted for two light hits of confetti to celebrate their top spot.
Described by The Telegraph as ‘a set that gently simmered before boiling over into a shower of confetti,’ we definitely think they made the right choice and the audience loved it.
The first hit saw white and yellow confetti fly above the crowd for song ‘Something Like Happiness,’ which we then changed to red and white for finale track ‘Pelican.’ Each hit used 12kg of confetti released through four blowers stationed at the front of the stage. The weather was spot on with some of the best conditions we have had all festival season, allowing the confetti to flutter directly upwards and be fully enjoyed by the audience before carried away on the wind. Great job all round!
