Queen & Adam Lambert, Festival Tour 2016

Quantum is very excited to be back on the road with the legendary Queen and their new front man Adam Lambert.

They are headlining multiple festivals across Europe this summer and we are helping the British rockers add an extra dimension to their iconic set with two select special effects.

First up in the show is our CO₂ jets for song ‘I Want It All,’ which appears just over halfway through the band’s set. As Brian May comes to the end of an epic guitar solo, jets positioned on the downstage edge release 16 streams of CO₂ in salutation to the musical moment. With eight jets on either side the central runway, the smokey currents create a perfect frame around the performers before they go on to finish the song. You can catch effect in action below.

Returning for the finale and everybody’s favourite sing-along tune ‘We are the Champions,’ Quantum releases a shimmering hit of golden 55x17mm mylar confetti, which in layman’s terms means very big and shiny (please note some festivals will have yellow confetti instead of gold). Due to its shape and size the mylar confetti falls gently to the ground, spinning as it goes and creating a longer lasting spectacle for the audience to enjoy at the end of the show.

To have maximum impact and coverage we are using 6 blowers to propel 18kg of confetti each show, stationing two in the stage left pit, two in the stage right pit, and one either side of the front of the B stage. One fan at the recent Cologne show has managed to capture the happy experience of being right next to a blower as it is fired, you can watch it here.

It is always a pleasure to work for Queen and Adam Lambert and we’d like to say thanks to all the teams involved for a great production and for having us back!
